A lot of good rock 'n roll came out in 1976, and a lot of it charted near the top. Most was from established groups, but there were a few new groups as well, ones that went on to fame and fortune. The following is a list of albums that I have (or at least a song or two from them) - I'll just list group and album, except for a few special instances. Deep Purple had broken up by this point, and both BTO and Motörhead did albums in '75 and '77, but not '76. I've got a "Spirit of 76" playlist on my laptop that goes on for almost 4 hours...

ABBA - Arrival (yes, ABBA... there's a song on the album called "Tiger" that kicks, but the one people know best from this album is "Dancing Queen")
AC/DC - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
    Aerosmith - Rocks
    Alice Cooper Goes to Hell
Bad Company - Run With the Pack
    Black Sabbath - Technical Ecstasy
Blue Öyster Cult - Agents of Fortune
    Boston - Boston
David Bowie - Station to Station
ELO - A New World Order
    Elton John - Blue Moves
Eric Clapton - No Reason to Cry
    Foghat - Night Shift
Grand Funk Railroad - Born to Die
    Heart - Dreamboat Annie
Judas Priest - Sad Wings of Destiny
    KISS - Destroyer
    Led Zeppelin - Presence
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Gimme Back My Bullets
    Montrose - Jump On It
Nazareth - Close Enough For Rock and Roll
Paul McCartney and Wings - Wings at the Speed of Sound
Queen - A Day at the Races
    REO Speedwagon - R.E.O.
    Santana - Amigos
    Scorpions - Virgin Killer
Steely Dan - The Royal Scam (ess cee a em... I guess the software doesn't like that word)
Steve Miller Band - Fly Like an Eagle
Styx - Crystal Ball (the first album with Tommy Shaw)
The Allman Brothers Band - Wipe the Windows, Check the Oil, Dollar Gas
The Outlaws - Lady In Waiting
The Rolling Stones - Black and Blue
    Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak
Three Dog Night - American Pastime
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (self-titled first album)
    UFO - No Heavy Petting
    ZZ Top - Tejas

There's probably a lot more out there than just these, but this is what I have...
