Slider Jump Demo

This is a demo showing how to make a bot jump over obstacles while it's riding a slider. The technique can also be used to lift a bot up one level.

I haven't seen this technique used much so I'm posting this level about it. Basically if the a bot (B or R) is standing on a horizontal slider it can climb/pass over certain obstacles when the slider is moved. I first used this trick in my level Circumnavigate. The easiest way to traverse the cylinders here is to do them one-by-one rather than with a single movement. To get the bot to jump over the two stone blocks you really have to slam the slider (the bot also needs a gap before the blocks in order to clear it).

Also, if the B-Bot is stopped on a rail he can step up onto a nearby block. I used this lift technique in Monorail Escape. In the case of horizontal cylinders or cube blocks the bot will just climb on top if made to stop on it.

Great demo! I liked how you showed the results with various block types.

It's definitely an underrated trick :D

However, you have to slide him really fast to get him to 'jump', or else he just ends up on top of the obstacle. @Chuckthulhu used the same trick near the end of his "Cae06" level.

@D.S.Masters Not much speed is required to jump/pass over rails and cylinders. If you do the cylinders one at a time you'll see this. Cube blocks however do require serious speed to traverse. I did an experiment and made the stone blocks 2 high, but the bot couldn't pass through them. I was thinking that they might via the Teleportation exploit that @richardfu discovered, as that too requires high speed slider action.

A great tutorial - thanks! Some interesting features illustrated, for both players and designers.

Seen this before, thought it was a bug. I suppose every bug can be made into a useful feature ;)

Gave us the full gamut of jumps in a small, compact demo level that was still playable while you learned. Well done indeed.
