I solved this with no assist. (I'll stop saying that every time. If I "like" the VS, I needed it to solve the level).
If B knocks both motors, he can't claim a star, rt? Learned that the hard way.
Many restarts required, for misbehaving balls & (mostly) player error, oops. Got it, finally!
