I have been trying to create a floor button or switch, that is triggered by B walking over it.

I've tried making things like sea-saws where B walks over one side.

But nothing happens. It seems like B does not apply weight to the thing he is standing on? Does B push down on blocks, or is B essentially weightless?

One technique is in this demo. The key is to have a motor somewhere along the metal mechanism to allow it to be mobile (although it doesn't actually move anywhere).

I left a cutout on one side so you can see how it works.

@MekaSage thank you for sharing that demo, that is very helpful. I also discovered there are many different explorations of things like this on the forum, they are more often called "sensors" or "force fields" here.

From my brief experiments I can't seem to find anything where B's weight actually pushes down on something. B doesn't seem to push down with any force when he's walking on level ground, and when he's standing. B can knock things with his body left and right (ball push) and I have also noticed that if B falls off the side of a floor switch, he will trigger it as he falls.

The mechanism in this card and force fields - my guess - is movable objects go to sleep in the physics system when B isn't too close to them and - and B wakes them up when he is close enough.

What I am still searching for is a floor switch that is only a 1x1 tile. The switch you posted has a radius, it looks like about a 3x3 radius around the switch.

The closest thing I have found is The Long Way Round by @ArGee but I'm not sure if it can be repurposed into a floor switch (or even if it's possible to build that facing up).

@shultz - That would definitely be useful. If I think of anything I'll let you know.
