MekoMole

Sid

A timing level based on a hopefully recognisable movie character. No tricks. Sid must use his formidable tennis skills to create bridges for B to collect stars.

Based on a hopefully recognisable movie character, Sid must shake off his slothfulness and help B collect ice gems. Yet another ball game but hopefully a different angle. Sid has yet to appear at Wimbledon but his forehand smashes and powerful backhand are second to none. Four out of five points normally required but if match conditions are perfect two will suffice. Very occasionally a stray ball can cause problems if it lands in an inconvenient place and causes a jam.

The level includes one of my favourite features, a bot lift (elevator if you prefer) which has appeared in several of my levels. This is fairly stable but can occasionally but rarely stick, requring a restart. As it's the opening move hopefully not a problem if it does happen.
Make sure you move the slide at the exit from the lift shaft when the Rbot clears the top fence before trying to rotate Sid.

A gentle lob is usually preferable to a full bodied smash so rotate Sid 90° into position before directing B to push the ball.
Some balls require Sid's paw to be slightly rotated backwards before attempting a hit. To allow time to adjust viewing angle between tapping the target ball and switching to the rotation draggable I usually direct B back to the outer block on the platform arm making him run further before pushing the ball. Very useful for geriatrics like myself but probably not necessary for the majority of forum players.

The Lbot will freeze at one point but will resume his path when the sliding stair is pulled back.

Different combinations of rotation and slider position are required for the last two stars.

My "lift" kept sticking soon after moving up, but no need for a restart. Just push the FD in and it starts again.

Wow! Sid is from Ice Age, right?:D beautiful! Thanks to video, cause at first i think the ball is just for collecting star on Sid's hand meanwhile the other is only additional ball, but it actually needed to distributed to many points. Thanks @MekoMole and good job! Keep it up!

Sid’s eyes were instantly recognisable from the films. Great design and very topical with Wimbledon taking place this week. Played tennis until my early 50’s so this was right up my street. I went for power drives as that was how i played.

You keep making characters - "Ice Age":sneaky:. You have made a squirrel. In this level, you have made the Sloth animal. I guess the next one will be Mammoth!:rotf:
      Thank you, amazing resemblance!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
The gameplay is very interesting. It was very difficult to control the animal. This is crazy Sloth animal!:rotf:
It spins completely uncontrollably. I think you did it on purpose. Because if you put the FD on the hands of the animal (as far as possible from the motor) - it will be easier to control. You have made the task more difficult:sneaky:. But I did it!:D
      Love the start! Super.
Thank you my friend. We are waiting for the mammoth:D;)

Thanks @BLR for playing, kind comments and very generous rating. I can't confirm that Sid is from Ice Age in case the film studio is short of money and decides to sue. Not that they would make much money from me. :(

Why am i not surprised @ridgerunner that you are a power drive player. :D Thanks for the endorsement from a master Mekorama player AND, it now transpires, big hitting tennis player.

Thank you @Denis Nazin for your kind comments and very generous rating. As stated above I cannot confirm or deny that the charcter is from Ice Age. I have done some preliminary work on the Mammoth but scale is a problem. The weasel is a distinct possibilty however.
I am troubled that you found the sloth difficult to control. At one point in the design I did have the draggables on the hands but found it easier, for me, to move with the draggables on the shoulders. Perhaps I should have included both options.
Again thanks for playing and your continued support. I am off to re-examine the Mammoth project.

I wasn't serious about the studio suing @BLR but stranger things have happened. :)

There's so much activity in the level it's not obvious at first where the balls need to go. Then controlling the sloth was another matter! Seems he had a mind of his own but after a few attempts we finally got it and it was very entertaining:thumbsup: Thanks :p

Thankyou @Sammy 5 for playing and such a generous rating. I agree that Sid has a mind of his own at times but very glad that you found the level entertaining in spite of his eccentricities. :)
