      Now, what I would like to know is: was this idea accomplished before? By this I mean controllable from different sides platform? Because, honestly, I don't think this is the best possible execution. I would really appreciate, if you could tell about any mechanism similar to this.

      Yes, there are similar mechanisms using a "joystick" center to control the platform. You can see the Sharing new (and old) mechanisms thread for some examples, or see the joysticks by @KPACABA, @Frenzies, and @Anti.

      @Frenzies Thank you very much for information. I checked some of them and I have to admit, their mechanisms are definitely more responsive and elegant than mine. One of the reasons is probably level itself - mine is too bulky.
