Capitol B

President B dropped his key, and it rolled it's way down into a gutter. L wants a good view of the city, and asked B for help to get on the roof. Only one trick is used one time in this level.

Too many restarts for me. Fed up with R falling off B. Getting through the hoop is unreliable the way i have tried then when i get the stack to the central elevator draggable, R falls off immediately before i put them on the draggable. Cannot face another restart.
Edit.. ooops ,just seen the video and relised I didn’t need to walk the stack through the hoop. I thought of the designed move then forgot about it after successfully walking the stack through the hoop on my first attempt.

@ridgerunner not good not good. Maybe this one wasn't ready to come out of the workshop. I had a little bit of trouble with L falling off, but it wasn't a major issue (or so I thought)
But then, that risk involved while also solving the puzzle may be overkill too.

Bummer. I was super stoked about the mechanism.

@Makl .. keep on taking the risks as i like complex levels like this and i can live with the occasional unstable one. I found that the autoslider sometimes paused or froze for good when i had R on B stand on them
    • Makl
@ridgerunner now that's a strange thing. It had never totally stopped for any reason other than the balls being in position, at least on my device.

I really like to make big and challenging levels, but I want them to be fun also. A tip to help keep L on your head (if needed):

Taking paths that keep L lined up against a wall will significantly reduce your chances of him spinning out into an incorrect direction

@Makl - No clue what to do at the start? I assumed I had to stop the auto sliders and drop a ball to get the star - did that but seen no way to get B / L over to that ball. Started dropping the balls at different ends of the auto slider and really didn't see anything better and restarting to try something else felt like shooting in the dark. I got tired of that as I had no idea if the auto sliders were going to stop or not. Had enough - too obscure with too many moving parts and too many options.

@Meko Guy for big complex and relatively obscure levels like this, would you say it would be wise for me to put verbal hints in addition to the regular video walkthrough and trick list?

After hearing both your reaction and @ridgerunner 's as well, I don't have much confidence that this level will be enjoyable for many people.
    • Meko Guy
@Makl - Can't really answer your question as I don't look at the video unless something isn't working so I see if I'm doing it right. If not, I stop the video at the point that you did something differently with plans to work that out myself. In this case, I might have looked at a hint to see if that helped with the game play but if it's too hard to see the game play then it's a give up normally for me. In other words, I'll not go step by step with your video or hint to play as to me that isn't playing.
    • Makl
@Meko Guy I agree with your sentiment that hinting your way straight through a level isn't very fun.

Although, for me, I have learned a lot about level designing by watching your video walkthroughs, as I could never even begin to figure out some of the things you put in your levels without SO many restarts.

I mean, when I joined the forum, I didn't even know about tricks like autopilot or SSS, and I think there is a significant disparity between the complexity of my levels vs. yours. That could easily be subjective though.

It took some time to understand the mechanism and which ball jams which slider and it was very satisfying after figuring out the logic. The ball that is closest to B at first didn't always roll to the correct spot everytime and this had me a couple of restarts. I liked this level but there's too much of B walking with L on it.
    • Makl
@ohmytian in the past, I had always wanted to make B walk with R, and since the stability patch happened and I found out, I've been having a lot of fun with it.

That being said, it's not like L or R are seriously stable, but rather just stable enough to cover short distances.

I think that keeping R/L on top of B is definitely a skill, and as I said before to @ridgerunner , using tall pillars for support is key to moving around a lot with L/R.

That being said, it took me about 2-3 takes to make my video walkthrough, so this level is probably more stack walking than what the game can handle

Looking back now, I think the ball puzzle was enough to be a level in it's own.
    • Makl
      By the way @ohmytian
the first step is seeing that L is not starting in the right spot to solve the puzzle.
    • Makl
Although you solved it on your own apparently. Amazing really, since two highly revered mekomasters just gave up on it.
    • ohmytian
@Makl Actually it's not that complex that you think but complexity is very subjective. The good about this level is the jamming ball always went to the same spot so it provides a clear picture afterwards. Initially I was worried that the ball will be hit and roll away due to the motion of the auto slider but thankfully it didn't. This level must have gone through a thorough testing so thank you very much for that! Then it's just a matter of figuring the logic which is the reason I like this game!
