I supposed getting the stars means the correct orientation for the safe box to open and I successfully cracked the code. Like how the top star is collected.

EDIT - Just watched the video walkthrough and I did it slightly different. I won inside the safe box rather than using the stair on top.

I did it! As you said - inside. Yes, it is possible and not difficult. But you need B to run over the slider. This is not very correct, but if he runs fast, he does not get stuck.
But I really like what you missed at this level. In the final, I did this - in order to take the victory block at the top, you need to go down the stairs. I love PARADOX!

@Denis Nazin I initially wanted to go by the stairs and I knew B has to be on the metal block there. But I just can't see the path to it. When I watched the video, I was like - ok, I can throw my eyes away now.

i really liked this box. I didnt have time to read the comments until today. Ive been playing this with sounds off so i didnt have any luck. but wow. After turning on sounds, everything went smooth. This is a real functioning box lock. Design is highly beautiful and game play had an unfolding reveal.
