Thanks for the update @D.S.Masters .. very disappointing though!
I hope that he will at least not force it down the throats of those who have been good enough to participate in the beta program .. and allow us to roll back to the current v1 before releasing v2
Is this his final word though? What happened to him making it an optional setting to turn off fuzzy tapping?

He seemed pretty... darn... adamant about it. No matter what I said, no matter what arguments I made, none of it mattered to him. And he seems to think that all the complaints here in the Forums and on Discord are just mumblings from a few malcontents.

So there is a second update coming? I ask because the version that updated itself on my device does not seem to have the fuzzy tapping feature. Also, I'm curious about his argument for updating B's behavior. From a game mechanics standpoint, that is a fundamental change, so what is he trying to accomplish with it?

Supposedly there's another beta coming along. As for the change in B's behavior... who knows? Apparently he saw the 'predictive' tapping (as he calls it) in another game and decided to put it in Mekorama.

That then, may be the most disappointing thing of all. It totally invalidates the red feedback that tells a player "B can't get here from where he is." It also calls into question the validity of the game's most basic instruction "Tap to move." With the new behavior, the rule would be "Tap to move to the nearest available block."

I hate to say this but, that's not the kind of decision a professional game designer would make. A coder maybe, after all, somebody thought the Office Assistant was a good idea. But a really good game designer does not put something in a game without a firm idea of what they want it to accomplish, and how then, to give appropriate feedback to the player about it.

    Hello,
I am working with Martin on Mekorama so I can confirm that there is a second minor update coming soon, but we will run it through a beta version first.

That version will include undo/redo, duplicate card, improved building experience when looking up below ground (easier to see what is happening), some more levels in the "master" tab and we are also testing if the auto-displacement of blocks also works vertically.
All of this is implemented, so we can very soon create a 1.3 beta when we consider it stable enough.

I didn't like where the beta was going with fuzzy tapping, so I've rolled back to v1.1
However it wasn't as easy as i was expecting, since the current public version already includes the experimental tapping(!) But in the process, I managed to extract an install apk for Android from a backup.
So if anyone wants to go back to v1.1, give me a shout

Just to be clear .. v1.1 is the version we've all been running until the beta came along. The current public version is v1.2.7 and it includes some improvements, but it also includes the experimental fuzzy tapping that made me return to v1.1

Edit: here is a link to my copy in the cloud ..

My app still has the precise tapping. Did it not update automatically? The first one did.

@Don G Rowe .. it's supposed to depend on your Google Play settings. But I've disabled automatic updates in general and specifically for Mekorama, yet the v1.1 that i rolled back to got updated again to v1.2.7. So I've had to uninstall and reinstall v1.1 yet again.
My other device has never seen anything but v1.1, but it's a Galaxy Note4 .. so maybe the age of the device is significant somehow.
Just out of interest, are you running mekorama on an Android device? Or Apple?

Android ... Samsung Galaxy Tab A specifically, but I make all software updates. The hardware is circa 2016.

So it seems there's a pattern .. The unsolicited updates seem to occur with newer devices. Older ones are safe(r).
Which is good, depending on how you look at it :p

    Oh, for... (unsuitable language)
Their latest idea for Mekorama, apparently already in the works: adding stars to levels... the more stars you collect, the more points you get, which will allow you to unlock other levels.

Yeah, you read that right. Instead of fixing the problems that exist in the game right now, they're going to make it worse... it won't be Mekorama any more.

You will not unlock other levels. This is just a new progression style for the story-part of the game.

Currently you unlock a new level each time you complete a level and this often leads to players getting stuck on 3 levels they can't solve.

Stars (or whatever they will be called) is a way to make that progression more flexible and also provide a way to add more depth and difficultly-stages to a level.
You can for example make a pretty easy level to complete but then make it more and more challenging to find or get the added stars in that same level.

This will change the game yes, but that is also the point when trying to move Mekorama forward.

The notorious fuzzy tapping that has been forced down our throats (anyone that has considered venturing past v1.1 that is, or those who have been lured there) .. has broken the intended solution of NoWay .. along with any other level that similarly relies on temporary Evil Eye effect

Fortunately, this particular puzzle has alternative solutions, so it is still playable with sufficient know-how.

    Takeaways:
    • Fuzzy tapping is a demonstrated curse.
    • Best to remain with v1.1 .. or roll back to it.
    • Alternative solutions gain even more legitimacy .. thanks to fuzzy tapping :p
