Last resort [demo]

A demo of inertia tricks. Use them as a last resort.

Last resort [demo]

This demo contains a few tricks that utilize B’s inertia. All these tricks are more difficult to impossible when movable metal blocks are involved (even if they are fixed by surrounding blocks). But they can be used whenever you have non-metal blocks B can walk on.

      For creators:
      • They are not recommended to be part of an intended level solution. Generally these tricks are considered improper, as Mekorama is mostly a puzzle game. For ability levels, there are better alternatives to make it challenging.
      • You might consider preventing these tricks, especially if you create a level that is either very complex and/or uses some other tricks.
      • If you create a purely logic level, there is really no need to prevent these tricks.
      For players:
      • It depends on the level, but mostly these tricks may open up unintended shortcuts. Don’t just use them. They take away the fun, and you’re not experiencing the full beauty of the level.
      • You can of course use these tricks if you get in a sticky situation, so as a last resort. For instance, you’ve finally managed to get past a difficult point in a long level, and then some kind of annoying instability makes B be in bad spot.
With B on the grass, tab the metal block, and then quickly on the stone block. Timing is about equal as springboard stairs trick; the second tap should be about when B is on the edge of the grass and metal block. B will push himself against the raised grass corner, and get some inertia to fall on the fence (or further).
This trick is actually quite well known. I’ve made it easier with the stairs, but the principle also works without it. With B on the stone block, send him to the stairs. Just before B reaches the stairs, tap the stairs again. Note that the stairs may also be a square block.
This trick is combined with trick 2 in this demo. But generally, whenever you have a way to make B drop/fall, you can tap a walkable block when B falls past it. After landing, B will walk in that direction, and even climb 1 block high edges. So this is actually autopilot, but it can only be started with B falling. When B fall from the stairs, tap the stone block next to B before B lands on the metal.
Repetitively tap both stone blocks besides the win, with B kind of Boogieing on the grass block in between them. At some point, B will fall on the win, or kind of balance on the edge. In the latter case, you might tap the win.

I thought it was going to be impossible but not. And of course five stars for the huge effort finding such inertia behaviors... Thanks!

Nice demo showing tricks to AVOID. I agree with all the suggestions, except that I would try to prevent such tricks when making any kind of level.

Sigh... I'll have to put a comment in my levels from now on saying no inertia tricks allowed...

      Nice work though!

Thank you for the great tutorial! I keep hearing all these terms like the ToA bug, and Boogie Not, so it was nice to finally have someone break some of them down with an example where I was able to see for myself what exactly they are and how they work.

Very very nice demo about what we do not have to do, the players ...:p
As I always say, if the use of any of these tricks is contextualized and justified in a level seems fine:D but if it is to use a shortcut not ... I repeat, very good demo in such a small space .... excellent work @Block builder
