Edgar Allan Poe (1809 - 1849) was an American writer, poet and literary critic, and is generally considered the inventor of modern detective fiction. His stories usually centered on the macabre and death, and his literary feud with the poet Longfellow is well known. His poem "The Raven" (my favorite of his), was sold for only $9 in 1845 (about $308 in today's dollars), and it made Poe an overnight sensation.
One of the earliest to use the new short story form, he is also considered to have propelled the new genre of science fiction into the limelight. Many authors, including Jules Verne, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and H.P. Lovecraft credit Poe as their inspiration.
Poe died in Baltimore, Maryland on October 7, 1849, and while his last few days are shrouded, it is generally assumed that he died of either drink or drugs. From 1849 to 2009, someone left a bottle of cognac and three roses on Poe's grave on the date of his birth, and though several people have claimed to be responsible, no one has ever been confirmed as the suspect.

(What would a level about Poe be without some zapper dodging?)

Very FUN & clean logic level with an impresive design...Thanks for sharing @D.S.Masters ;)
By the way, have you changed reading for music as a background theme? I think it's fine since reading, along with music, are my favorite hobbies ... I love Poe, Conan Doyle & the great H.P Lovecraft .. I read them when I was younger ... now I am with another type of reading theme, like the diaries of Лев толстой aka Leo Tolstoy... a very spiritual writer! I'm enjoying a lot!:)

@delator77 Oh, don't worry - I've got more music levels coming up. :) It's just the season to do a little Poe.

@Sun Eagle Of all the Poe themes I could have put into a level, The Pit and the Pendulum seemed to be the most obvious...

Especially good level. Enjoyed the repeated use of the pendulum. And, Poe has always been a favorite, and if "Pendulum" wasn't worthy of a level, I don't know what is.
